Ner’zhul denied Demon powers for his people. In return Kil’jaedn punished him by torturing him until only his soul remained. Then Kil’jaeden gave Ner’zhul a choice. To be tortured for eternity or for Ner’zhul to server Kil’jaeden as the Lich King without a body.
